My mother thought it was actually a virus protecter and then gave it her credit card and then I found out it was a virus scam.

I have used the free version of AVG never gave them any credit card info or anything for my computer at work and have many other friends that use the free version are you sure it is AVG and not some other program of spyware? also what are the symptoms from installing AVG? in any case please watch where you download from make sure the publisher is specified everytime you download. as long as you contact your credit card company they should not have any problem disputing this charge (providing you don't dispute too many charges)

AVG is a proper anti virus program unless your mum has been scammed by a dummy AVG copy

m=get your mum to monitor her credit card and tell her to inform the credit card company

If you don't mind paying for protection, get nod32 or Kaspersky. those are the best anti-virus softwares in the market.

If your AVG is made by AVG Technologies, formerly Grisoft it is the legitimate AVG. If it comes from another company then it is the wrong one. Hope this helps clear things up.

then get some good anti-virus program to remove the virus. also google the virus name and see if there is any removal instructions

Download McAfee (mcafee.com) and most importantly, have your mother monitor her Credit card. always download from a reputable site
